Welcome to the homepage for the Wrexham and District Society of Model Engineers.
We are a long established (over 50 years) group of model engineers of all ages and all abilities from a variety of backgrounds who meet on a regular basis to help and encourage each other in model building. We have members with many years of experience and knowledge and also absolute beginners who are only too keen to learn. The emphasis of our club is mainly on model live steam locomotive construction but we cater for anyone with an interest in model engineering, road-steam, I.C engines, stationary engines. tool making and horology, whatever their skill and ability levels. There is also a thriving junior section of members from the age of 14 who are keen to become full members on their 16th birthday.
We hold meetings and workdays throughout the week and also on Sundays which is our ‘public running’ day.
The track is set on a picturesque, privately owned, lawned site near Gresford, North Wales. There is a two-platform station and covered waiting area. The fully automatic signalling system permits up to 3 train working for both 5” and 3 ½” gauge models.
We provide rides for members of the public, subject to weather conditions and loco/driver availability. Our train rides are free but donations are encouraged to cover our running costs and we try to provide these every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday between 12.00 and 15.30 (Please note that this is a private site and admission to it is entirely at the club’s discretion)
If you would like to join us, get some help and advice on your project or just bring the family for an hour’s quiet relaxation and as many rides as the kids want then please contact us using the link at the top of the page.
